  2. IMPORTANT -- It's time to check Your Watchlist for Jan 30 and Jan 31 Last Day to Watch expiring titles. On Tuesday Jan 3, Amazon Prime will begin to post the 28-day advance notice Orange Expiration Date Notices that say "Leaving Prime on January 31, 2017".

Here's how it works: Jan 3 + 28 days = Jan 31 which is the day when the title is removed from Prime and therefore means the Last Day to Watch is the day before Jan 30.

On Wednesday Jan 4, you then check Your Watchlist again for Jan 31 Last Day to Watch expiring titles. That is, Jan 4 + 28 days = Feb 1 which is the day when the title is removed from Prime and therefore means the Last Day to Watch is the day before Jan 31.

Logically, these Jan 31 Orange Notices should say "Leaving Prime on February 1, 2017." Unfortunately, confusing matters, Amazon Prime Video is in the habit of posting these new Orange Expiration Date Notices as also saying "Leaving Prime on January 31, 2017."

    ReplyDelete
  3. The problem then becomes how do you tell the Jan 30 notices apart from the Jan 31 notices if they both say the SAME identical Expiration Date?

The two-step procedure is to check Your Watchlist for the Jan 30 expiring titles first on Jan 3 and move them all to the top of page 1 of Your Watchlist. Then on Jan 4 when you check Your Watchlist again, any new Orange Expiration Date Notices that you find throughout the rest of Your Watchlist which say "Leaving Prime on January 31, 2017" will be the new Jan 31 Last Day to Watch expiring titles.

Please read my Comments posted on the Resources webpage for the full details of the two-step procedure.

And if you are adventurous, if you have the time and want to make the extra effort, please read my new Comments that I will post later tonight to the Resources webpage detailing steps three and four to find even More Jan 30 and Jan 31 Expiring Titles.

    1. Truth be told, I move the expiring films up to the front of my Watchlist page anyway. That way, I can separate the films fixing to expire from the ones that will still be around in the future.

    2. Shana, PunkinheadDelux did follow the two-step procedure to confirm
      the Jan end-of-month expiration dates.

The Fury (1978) and The German Doctor (English Subtitled) (2014)
are both 1/30 Confirmed Last Day to Watch movies, not 1/29.

And PunkinheadDelux continued the procedure for a third day on 1/5.
Redacted (2007) and Concussion (2013) are both
2/1 Confirmed Last Day to Watch movies.

Jan 5 + 28 = 33 = Feb 2 which is the day when the title is removed from Prime
and therefore means the Last Day to Watch is the day before Feb 1.

    3. Oops! I put "The Fury" and "The German Doctor" under the wrong date accidentally. As for "Redacted" and "Concussion" - I haven't gotten that far yet. Thanks for catching my error.

    1. It certainly looks that way. I googled the series, and according to variety.com, Amazon acquired exclusive rights to stream the show in January 2014; the rights were granted by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. I tried to visit warnerbros.com for more information, but the website keeps timing out. I will have to try again later. But, it is very frustrating when shows/movies disappear without notice.

  27. IMPORTANT -- It's time to check Your Watchlist for Feb 27 and Feb 28 Last Day to Watch expiring titles. On Tuesday Jan 31, Amazon Prime will begin to post the 28-day advance notice Orange Expiration Date Notices that say "Leaving Prime on February 28, 2017."

Here's how it works: Jan 31 + 28 days = Feb 28 which is the day when the title is removed from Prime and therefore means the Last Day to Watch is the day before Feb 27.

On Wednesday Feb 1, you then check Your Watchlist again for Feb 28 Last Day to Watch expiring titles. That is, Feb 1 + 28 days = Mar 1 which is the day when the title is removed from Prime and therefore means the Last Day to Watch is the day before Feb 28.

Logically, these Feb 28 Orange Notices should say "Leaving Prime on March 1, 2017." Unfortunately, confusing matters, Amazon Prime Video is in the habit of posting these new Orange Expiration Date Notices as also saying "Leaving Prime on February 28, 2017."

The problem then becomes how do you tell the Feb 27 notices apart from the Feb 28 notices if they both say the SAME identical Expiration Date?

  28. The two-step procedure is to check Your Watchlist for the Feb 27 expiring titles first on Jan 31 and move them all to the top of page 1 of Your Watchlist. Please read my Comments posted on the Resources webpage for the full details of the two-step procedure.

  29. And now further, as PunkinheadDelux showed this month, it is also worthwhile checking Your Watchlist for a third day on Thursday Feb 2. That is, Feb 2 + 28 days = Mar 2 which is the day when the title is removed from Prime and therefore means the Last Day to Watch is the day before Mar 1.

Unfortunately, Amazon Prime will confuse matters again by displaying both the "Leaving Prime on March 1, 2017" and "Leaving Prime on March 2, 2017" Orange Notices for the Mar 1 Last Day to Watch titles. So, checking Your Watchlist for a third day on Thursday Feb 2 will sort out this mess.

Everyone's taste in films and TV shows is different. Please help us to create the most complete list of Prime expiring titles by checking Your Watchlist for these three days and contributing what you find.

  30. It is unfortunate that this effort is necessary, because Amazon Prime is unwilling to follow a consistent Orange Expiration Date Notice policy. It should be possible to computerize the calculation of the proper Leaving Date, as they did before when Amazon Prime displayed the "Leaves Prime in X days" Notices below the movie posters. Those Notices were ALWAYS accurate. I wish Amazon Prime would bring them back.

Sorry for posting so many Comments but Google Blogger won't let me post more than 1,000 characters at a time.
