It's time to check Your Watchlist for end-of-July expiring Prime titles.
ReplyDeleteOn Monday Amazon Prime will begin to post its 28-day advance notices
of titles Leaving Prime at the end of July.
On Monday July 3, you will find the new Orange Expiration Date Notices
for expiring Prime titles with a Last Day to Watch of July 30.
July 3 + 28 days = July 31 which is the day the title Leaves Prime,
so the Last Day to Watch is the day before on July 30.
On Tuesday July 4, you will find the new Orange Expiration Date Notices
for expiring Prime titles with a Last Day to Watch of July 31.
July 4 + 28 days = 32 or Aug 1 which is the day the title Leaves Prime,
so the Last Day to Watch is the day before on July 31.
Logically, these July 31 Orange Notices should say "Leaving Prime on Aug 1, 2017." Unfortunately, confusing matters, Amazon Prime Video is in the habit of posting these new Orange Expiration Date Notices as also saying "Leaving Prime on July 31, 2017."
The problem then becomes how do you tell the July 30 notices apart from the July 31 notices if they both say the SAME identical Leaving Prime date?
ReplyDeleteThe two-step procedure is to check Your Watchlist for the July 30 expiring titles first on July 3 and move them all to the top of page 1 of Your Watchlist. Then on July 4 when you check Your Watchlist again, any new Orange Expiration Date Notices that you find throughout the rest of Your Watchlist which say "Leaving Prime on July 31, 2017" will be the new July 31 Last Day to Watch expiring titles.
This method allows you to determine with certainty when the Last Day to Watch an expiring Prime title will be, regardless of whatever confusing Leaving Prime date you may find stated in the Orange Expiration Date Notice.
The only requirement is that you MUST BEGIN the procedure on Monday July 3. Then you will know for certain that the new Orange Notices which appear in Your Watchlist on Tuesday July 4 are in fact those with a Last Day to Watch of July 31.
Then check Your Watchlist again on Wednesday July 5 and you will find the new
ReplyDeleteOrange Notices for expiring Prime titles with a Last Day to Watch of Aug 1.
July 5 + 28 days = 33 or Aug 2 which is the day the title Leaves Prime,
so the Last Day to Watch is the day before on Aug 1.
Unfortunately, Amazon Prime will confuse matters again by displaying both the "Leaving Prime on Aug 1, 2017" and "Leaving Prime on Aug 2, 2017" Orange Notices for the Aug 1 Last Day to Watch titles. So, checking Your Watchlist for a third day on Wednesday July 5 will sort out this mess.

Shana, at the end of the month, I don't think there's any need to insert the remaining 7/30 Unconfirmed titles into the 7/31 Confirmed list, where I find they get lost.
Just rename the 7/30 Unconfirmed heading to something like Now 7/31 Expiring and put a strike-through line through any titles that did leave Prime on 7/30. I think the list will be easier to read and keep track of this way, and you won't have to work so hard.

Teen Wolf (1985) is no longer Prime, but it should be back on 8/01 according to the press release.
ReplyDeleteAmazon Prime Video did the same thing last month with The General (1926), On the QT (1999) and Payback (1999), which I reported in June as Expired Without Notice. And then I saw all three movies were listed on the July 2017 press release as arriving on Prime on 7/1. And so they did.
DeleteIt seems Amazon Prime Video has to remove the title first for a few days, so they can accurately claim it has been added to Prime on 8/1.

ReplyDeleteMost of us cannot see expiration notices anymore. But in the past, you could see expiration notices on your Watchlist using your computer. When you move your cursor over each individual movie poster, a pop-up window would appear. Titles leaving Prime would have orange expiration notices.
DeleteThe problem is that Amazon has changed the pop-up window to a new format. Now, when you hover over the movie poster a different pop-up appears that does not show you your progress bar (for partially viewed content) and does not show you the expiration notices.
A few people can still see expiration notices, and others claim that their expiration notices have returned.
