It's time to check Your Watchlist for end-of-Sept expiring Prime titles.
ReplyDeleteOn Saturday Amazon will begin to post its 28-day advance notices
of titles Leaving Prime at the end of September.
On Saturday Sep 2, you will find the new Orange Expiration Date Notices
for expiring Prime titles with a Last Day to Watch of Sep 29.
Sep 2 + 28 days = Sep 30 which is the day the title Leaves Prime,
so the Last Day to Watch is the day before on Sep 29.
The Sep 29 Orange Notices will say "Leaving Prime on Sep 30, 2017."
On Sunday Sep 3, you will find the new Orange Expiration Date Notices
for expiring Prime titles with a Last Day to Watch of Sep 30.
Sep 3 + 28 days = 31 or Oct 1 which is the day the title Leaves Prime,
so the Last Day to Watch is the day before on Sep 30.
Logically, these Sep 30 Orange Notices should say "Leaving Prime on Oct 1, 2017." Unfortunately, confusing matters, Amazon is in the habit of posting these new Orange Expiration Date Notices as also saying "Leaving Prime on Sep 30, 2017."
The problem then becomes how do you tell the Sep 29 notices apart from the Sep 30 notices if they both say the SAME identical Leaving Prime date?
ReplyDeleteThe two-step procedure is to check Your Watchlist for the Sep 29 expiring titles first on Sep 2 and move them all to the top of page 1 of Your Watchlist. Then on Sep 3 when you check Your Watchlist again, any new Orange Expiration Date Notices that you find throughout the rest of Your Watchlist which say "Leaving Prime on Sep 30, 2017" will be the new Sep 30 Last Day to Watch expiring titles.
This method allows you to determine with certainty when the Last Day to Watch an expiring Prime title will be, regardless of whatever confusing Leaving Prime date you may find stated in the Orange Expiration Date Notice.
The only requirement is that you MUST BEGIN the procedure on Saturday Sep 2. Then you will know for certain that the new Orange Notices which appear in Your Watchlist on Sunday Sep 3 are in fact those with a Last Day to Watch of Sep 30.
Then check Your Watchlist again on Monday Sep 4 and you will find the new

Sep 4 + 28 days = 32 or Oct 2 which is the day the title Leaves Prime,
so the Last Day to Watch is the day before on Oct 1.
Unfortunately, Amazon Prime Video will confuse matters again by displaying both "Leaving Prime on Oct 1, 2017" and "Leaving Prime on Oct 2, 2017" Orange Notices for the Oct 1 Last Day to Watch titles. So, checking Your Watchlist for a third day on Monday Sep 4 will sort out this mess.

DeleteSeason 5 of American Horror Story (Hotel, 2016) is expiring from Netflix on October 4. You might want to check to see if any season of AHS is expiring on Amazon Prime. Also, the official list of content coming to Prime in September does not include Season 6 of AHS even though the first episode of Season 7 is going to air this week on FX. Does anyone have any idea when Season 6 might stream on Prime.
ReplyDeleteAccording to Amazon Adviser, AHS S6 should stream in October. Here is a quote from their article , "Usually, the seasons of American Horror Story are released on Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services in October. The fifth season of AHS was just released on Oct. 4. So, we expect the sixth season of the series to follow a similar pattern and be released in October 2017." (According to Amazon's website the DVD will be released October 3, 2017.)

I've been checking my list every day and there were no titles showing as expiring. However, I see two titles from my list in the comments here - Afflicted (2014) and Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) that are apparently expiring but my list does not show it. I went ahead and removed and re-added them and now Afflicted shows as expiring although Inside Llewyn Davis still doesn't. Wish I knew what was happening here.
I do not see an expiration notice for Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) either. It's weird. For some reason I do not always see expiration notices for everything that people post in the comments, but yet, for the most part, everything expires as expected. I wish I knew why this happens sometimes, but I do not.

DeleteI first noticed the problem of some posters in my Watchlist NOT showing the Orange Expiration Date Notice a few months ago. What I observed is that some Prime movies have multiple, different weblinks, which can be found on the Amazon Video Homepage, under the "Customers Who Watched This Item Also Watched" listings and when Searching by movie title, actor name, and director name.
DeleteEach movie webpage URL address includes a unique 10-character Product Number usually beginning with "B0" which identifies that movie. When you clicked "Add to Watchlist", Amazon typically saved the weblink with whatever Product Number of the link you had found, wherever you had found it.
However, when you hover your mouse over the Watch Now button on a movie webpage, you will see that the button URL link also refers to a 10-character Product Number to play the movie.
What I found is that sometimes the Watch Now button Product Number may point to a DIFFERENT Product Number than the one in the movie webpage URL address.
And it was in these instances that some posters in my Watchlist did NOT display the Orange Expiration Date Notice. I would guess this was the case with you, PunkinheadDelux, and the movie Afflicted.
DeleteMost Prime movie posters in Your Watchlist have webpage URL addresses where the Product Number MATCHES the Watch Now button Product Number. I refer to these as TRUE ONE links.
When I removed the movie title without the Orange Notice from my Watchlist and added the title back from the movie webpage where the Product Number matched the Watch Now button Product Number, then the Orange Expiration Date Notice appeared in my Watchlist.
The Good News is that Amazon has now done something about this problem.
DeleteThis month I have observed that Amazon is now automatically adding the True One link to Your Watchlist no matter what the Product Number may be on the webpage where you find the Prime movie title.
You can see this for yourself by clicking on Shana's Returning Expired Without Notice Again movie links above for Japanese Story, Rust and Saint Ralph.
These webpages are NOT True One links. The webpage URL address Product Number does NOT match the Watch Now button Product Number.
However, when you click "Add to Watchlist" from these webpages, you will find that Amazon has added the Prime movie poster with the matching True One link to Your Watchlist instead. So, going forward, you should always be able to see the Orange Expiration Date Notices for the new Prime movies you add to Your Watchlist.
The only way you can find old non-matching links in Your Watchlist is to open the movie webpage and compare the Watch Now button Product Number to the webpage Product Number.
DeleteYou cannot use the pop-up info window in Your Watchlist, as the window does NOT display the same Product Number as the movie webpage Watch Now button when it is a non-matching link. You have to open the movie webpage to look for any non-matching links.
When you click "Remove from Watchlist" and then "Add to Watchlist", Amazon will automatically replace the non-matching weblink with the True One link, and then move the title to the top of page 1 of Your Watchlist.
There's probably no reason to do this, as you can just continue to follow this blog for expiring titles and spend your time watching movies. If you find another Prime title missing the Orange Notice, you can also click the Remove link below the movie poster in Your Watchlist and then click the Undo button to update the movie webpage link to the True One link.
I don't know when exactly they expired, but a handful of children's shows are gone. Go Diego Go, Wonder Pets, and Backyardigans are no longer prime.

10/27:
Falling Water, Season 1 (2016) has returned to Prime.
I don't see an expiration notice for this show, but I will go ahead and add it to the list above. This is one of those shows where the Watch Now button Product Number does not match the webpage Product Number. I did try removing the show and then adding it back to my list, but the Product Numbers still do not match. I wish Amazon would fix this mess.
DeleteWellesley72, I don't understand why you posted 10/27 as the Last Day to Watch Season 1 of Falling Water. Did you see an Orange Expiration Date Notice in Your Watchlist yesterday Thursday September 28?
DeleteNormally the "Leaving Prime on Oct 28, 2017" notice would not
appear in Your Watchlist until tomorrow Saturday September 30.
Sep 30 + 28 days = Oct 28 which is the day the title Leaves Prime,
so the Last Day to Watch is the day before on Oct 27.
Do you see an Orange Notice now today Friday September 29?
I don't think it's possible. Where did you get your info? What device?

DeleteShana, I'm sorry if I did not make it clear when I wrote about it before. The matching webpage Product Number and Watch Now button Product Number test for True One links only applies to Movies on Prime.
The webpages for TV Shows on Prime have Seasons with multiple Watch Now buttons, one for each Episode. So, there is no True One matching link for TV shows per se. I don't know if TV shows on Prime suffer from the missing Orange Notice problem the way that Movies on Prime sometimes do.
Also, the headings at the top of the list today should be
9/29 - Confirmed - Last Day to Watch
and 9/29 - Unconfirmed (could be 9/30) - may be Last Day to Watch
We won't find out until tomorrow Saturday September 30 whether any of the 9/29 titles are available for one more day to watch on Prime.

DeleteMy post was that 10/27 is the date that Falling Water, Season 1 RETURNED to Prime. It had been on Prime about a month ago, then was taken off without notice. It showed up again on 10/27. Sorry about any confusion.

DeleteFalling Water, Season 1 (2016) has AGAIN been removed from Prime as of 10/4 after reappearing on Prime on 9/27. In fact, it is not available on Amazon Video at all!
