DeleteOk, well maybe I typed too soon. I had checked one of the titles listed in the comments (Girl with all the Gifts) and it does not show an expiration notice for me. However, I see I do have expiration notices for American Ultra (says its leaving Feb 10) and Ironweed (says leaving March 1). I do not have notices for An American Affair or Girl With all the Gifts. I did find one other title leaving, though, which I will post in a new comment.

When not using hover, The Girl with the Gifts shows "Available until Feb 23, 2018" whereas the other expiring titles say "Leaving Prime on ---- date." The expiring stuff that says "Leaving Prime" does show an expiration notice on hover. Also, Sleepover says its not expiring.
ReplyDeleteBut of course, when using hover, the opposite happens. The Girl with the Gifts show no expiration notice, and Sleepover does show "Leaving Prime 3/01."
Because those two movies do not have consistent expiration notices, I will change Sleepover to 2/28 Unconfirmed and put a note by it. It may be that the new hover notice is correct in showing the day that the film leaves Prime, and in that case, it would be 2/28 last day to watch.

It seems dates are only back for movies. Or does anybody see an expiration date in the hover box for a show?
DeleteI guess we'll have to wait if it's just a matter of time and the dates will also appear for shows again or if this is done on purpose from Amazon.
In my opinion seeing expiring dates for shows is more important than for movies so you don't get stuck in between when the show leaves Prime.
I have not seen an expiration notice for a show yet.

ReplyDeleteI'm worried about all the fx shows expiring from prime.. similar to how HBO has some original series on prime the same is for fx, and according to this site fx new service FX+ (which is only available currently through Cox tv provider) have “been diligent about recapturing the in-season stacking rights for all current original programming and recapturing the rights to all seasons of a large portion of our legacy of great original series,” not sure if that means: the Americans, sons of anarchy, always Sunny etc. Will be leaving prime to be exclusively on FX+.. damages was recently removed from Hulu so the thought of all of fx shows possibly leaving prime is kind of a bummer, I'll link the article in a separate comment, hopefully this is nothing..

DeleteFX+ is also available on Comcast/Xfinity. It is not a streaming service put a premium channel for which you pay a fee to get commercial-free episodes of FX shows. Since you need a cable subscription to get FX+, I don’t find it an attractive option. Hard to believe that FX shows will leave Hulu if Disney buys Fox. Don’t know why Damages left Hulu but hopefully it will return or go to Amazon Prime. It’s too valuable a property to sit on FX+ where no one will see it. Doesn’t FX know that cable is passé?

So far this month, the new Expiration Date Notices have been right.
Good to know – it must have left Prime after I updated the blog. When I updated yesterday (2/25), the movie was still watchable. I added it to my list to make sure, and I saw the Prime sash and the hover notice. Also, I also hit the play button, and the movie loaded.

ReplyDeleteI'm no longer seeing a notice for Sicario either. Or Captive or The Bay, even though all of these were there within the last couple of days. In fact, when I first checked Amazon this morning, The Bay still had a notice, but only a few minutes later it was gone.
It looks like the latest date I can see now is the Love Guru, which is 3/12 (hover says 3/13), which is only 2 weeks away. I hope this doesn't mean Amazon reduced their notices to only 14 days instead of 28.
I checked this morning too, and I saw a notice for Captive, but of course, it is gone now. For now, I have put notes by all three of those movies, stating that we don't see expiration notices for them. At first I thought that they were being renewed.

More weirdness for today - I am not able to view my complete Watchlist for movies. I am cut off after looking at the first 17 pages. I am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue too.
ReplyDeleteWhen you reach page 17, you can access the next page by manually changing the URL address in your browser to:

Be sure to change the page number TWICE in the URL address, and then press Enter to display the next page. Repeat for page 19, 20, etc. You can also jump to any page number you want at any time by manually changing the URL address and pressing Enter.
