Hello everyone! This post is for expiring titles leaving Amazon Prime Video (U.S.A.) for the month of August 2024. If you are new to this site, check out the FAQ page, and feel free to post a question or comment there. Please post general comments on the Discussions page. This monthly page is for the listing of expiring titles on Prime.
When you list expiring titles, please subtract 1 day from the date Amazon lists.
Amazon lists the day the title leaves Prime, meaning that the title is no longer available to stream.
We list titles one day earlier because that is the last day to view it.
Last Day to Watch = Expiration Date minus 1 day
until the following morning to calculate the expiration date and the last day to watch date. Otherwise,
if any of the titles are Expiring Early at 9 PM PDT, your calculations for those will be mistakenly off
by one day earlier.

Watchlist Mouse Hover Pop-Up Info Windows
Apparently Prime Video is now hiding Expiration Notices normally found in the Watchlist mouse hover pop-up info windows.
Searching your Watchlist may no longer tell you if a movie or TV show is expiring
when Prime Video displays a blurb [for example, "nominee"] immediately below the title in the mouse hover pop-up info window.
When you open the movie's Detail Webpage you will see an Expiration Notice if
a title is expiring.
And you will still see an Expiration Notice in the mouse hover pop-up info window of
expiring titles in the Customers Also Watched row on Detail Webpages.
The Solution perhaps lies in applying the Customers Also Watched pop-up window code to the Watchlist pop-up window code, so that Expiration Notices may once again be displayed properly in the Watchlist. Thanks to the Prime Video programmers, this issue has been fixed overnight. The Expiration Notices are displaying properly again in the Watchlist mouse hover pop-up info windows. Just in time for this weekend's search for end-of-month expiring titles. Thanks again.

Is the issue with expirations not showing up for movies with a banner still happening? I checked Cyrano for my list and it shows the expiration when I hover and not the "Oscar nominee."
ReplyDeleteIn my watchlist, "Leaves in ___" is now in Bold Green text under the title name. This is the same place as the awards, so it appears that "Leaves in" overwrites the awards info. Amazon needs to fix the problem. Why not have "Leaves in ___" as an overlay on top of the title card. That way the awards would still appear when mousing over.

Delete-- JustWatch.com is providing expiration dates for Freevee titles. Something which Prime Video has never provided to subscribers.

No, unfortunately JustWatch.com does not provide an option to view expiring titles
Deleteby service in a list format at this time.
What makes the search results so numerous is that the words "prime video" appear
in the footer on EVERY JustWatch webpage.
So the search results you get are for the expiring titles on EVERY streaming service.
The better way to limit the search results to Prime Video titles is to enter:
site:justwatch.com "leaving in" "streaming on Amazon Prime Video"
Then you still have to click on each title in hope of finding the Prime expiring ones.

that they have joined JustWatch to create a Watchlist of titles to track for
Freevee and TV Shows. Then JustWatch will display expiration notices on the JW Watchlist.

ReplyDelete— I took a look at the html code for Expiration and Awards. They both carry the same html ID Tag of "high-value-msg". This means that both values can't be shown at the same time. PV should be showing both because Awards are helpful when deciding which expiring titles to watch. Hopefully fixed in the future.

They're back. Five Nights at Freddy's, Night Swim, Oppenheimer, The Exorcist: Believer.
DeleteAccording to news reports 3 years ago, Prime Video made a deal with Universal Pictures
to stream their new movies for 10 months after they first play for 4 months on Peacock.
Then they would return to Peacock to play another 4 months exclusively.
So this was just a glitch of some kind on Prime.
They also made a similar deal for IMDb TV/Freevee.
The Fast & Furious movie F9: The Fast Saga (2021) for example just left Freevee
and returned to Peacock.

PV Top-rated Movies List . A few days ago this list showed over 900 titles. It now seems to be capped at a maximum of 500 titles.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the Top-rated Movies has an option to show only top-rated TV shows. These are two excellent lists for finding good titles and expiration dates. To see these lists:
PV Home Page
> Click the "Movies" icon at the top (should be the third one)
> Sroll down to "Top-rated movies"
> Click "See more"
> Click the "Ways to Watch" drop-down list and select "Included with Prime"
The above will show movies only
To get the top-rated TV shows Click the "Content Type" drop-down list (same row as "Ways to Watch") deselect "Movies" and checkbox "TV Shows". [There are 174 TV shows listed as of this post. The expiring one all seem to be accounted for on this blog.]
I have found that looking at the Content Types seperately shows more titles that if two Content Types are checked. There are also Content Types filters but they have only one title and seem to be placeholders for a future update.

DeleteThis happened a while ago month when the Godzilla titles, Predestination and Johnny Mnemonic all disappeared and all returned after a few days. Everyone of those is expiring this month. That makes it seem that they were marked to expire on a certain date but someone at Amazon pressed the wrong checkbox.

This just went up as a surprise listing. It's another REMOW license like Tonbo!, which went up as a surprise listing a few days ago and will expire at the same time.
This and the prior season appear to currently be on Crunchyroll. Do you know which other anime are under a REMOW license?

On 8/16/24 at 9:30 p.m., Anonymous posted that Just Watch website showed that "Interstellar" (and others) was leaving APV on 9/10/24. I just noticed that APV itself now also shows that "Intersteller" is leaving in 14 days (9/10/24). This gives me a bit more confidence that the Just Watch site is correct with Prime expirations and maybe even Freevee movies and shows as well.

DeleteI can see an expiration icon (small red clock) as an overlay on the title BUT only when selecting the "row" view option (≡ , icon in the middle). You have to click on a title to see the actual leaving date but you don't have to scroll over anything.
Oops. The red clock icon is not on the title card. It is actually included on each streaming service under the icon.

DeleteWhat makes the search results so numerous is that the words "prime video" appear
in the footer on EVERY JustWatch webpage.
So the search results you get are for the expiring titles on EVERY streaming service.
Instead the better way to limit the search results to Prime Video titles is to enter:

Then you still have to click on each title in hope of finding the Prime expiring ones.
