Hello everyone! This post is for expiring titles leaving Amazon Prime Video (U.S.A.) for the month of October 2024. If you are new to this site, check out the FAQ page, and feel free to post a question or comment there. Please post general comments on the Discussions page. This monthly page is for the listing of expiring titles on Prime.
When you list expiring titles, please subtract 1 day from the date Amazon lists.
Amazon lists the day the title leaves Prime, meaning that the title is no longer available to stream.
We list titles one day earlier because that is the last day to view it.
Last Day to Watch = Expiration Date minus 1 day
until the following morning to calculate the expiration date and the last day to watch date. Otherwise,
if any of the titles are Expiring Early at 9 PM PDT, your calculations for those will be mistakenly off
by one day earlier.

Hidden Expiration Notices: Because I subscribe to Vix Gratis, PV added a new feature that hides expiration dates when they are moving them over to that free subscription. A movie like Platoon is just not the same movie with dubbed voices. I hope PV doesn't not start doing this with other subscriptions. It will make finding expiring titles a lot more difficult.

A large number of Freevee titles moved over to Prime Video. Over 80 titles out of 350 on my watchlist converted.

ReplyDeletePrime Video moved my version of this title over to Vix Gratis. It can only be watched as a Spanish dub without English subtitles. You can still watch it English on Tubi.
Viewing the "3 From Hell" movie detail webpage when NOT Signed In to Amazon shows
Deletethat the movie is still available on Freevee with English audio and subtitles.
Then clicking on the More Purchase Options button shows that the same link is also
shared with the AMC+ with or without ads subs, the MovieSphere sub, the Shudder sub,
and the ViX Gratis with Ads sub.
Apparently the problem you face of only being able to watch the movie with
Spanish audio and Spanish subtitles is unique to your situation of being
a ViX Gratis with Ads subscriber. Prime Video has made a big mistake in this case
by combining the English version movie and the Spanish dubbed version on Vix Gratis
with the same link on their web servers. Trying to save space by sharing the
same link instead of properly using two separate links is stupid.
The two versions of the movie still exist as two separate movies on their web servers.
The only space saving they have achieved is of having one less link in their database.
I don't think anyone at PV has thought this through in their zeal to eliminate
duplicate links from their database. In this instance, having a separate link
for the ViX Gratis with Ads Spanish version makes sense while the English version on
Freevee is still available. I think someone at PV has fallen asleep at the wheel.
If it is Amazon's intention to have customers watch movies and TV shows on Freevee
with Ads, they are making a big mistake by combining Vix Gratis with Ads links
with the same Freevee link. The ViX Gratis with Ads subscription is overriding
the Freevee link. All they will be doing now is driving their customers to watch
Freevee movies on the Tubi TV streaming service. I'm sure that Tubi will be
very happy to welcome discouraged Amazon customers who will now boost their ads profits.
One possible workaround is that you can create another Amazon account for yourself
to watch the Freevee movies in English that are shared with the ViX Gratis with Ads sub.
Update today: Searching for "3 From Hell" on JustWatch shows that the movie is
no longer expiring from Freevee. But it is expiring from the AMC+ and Shudder channels
on Thurs 10/31. JustWatch also shows the movie is expiring from Tubi on Wed 10/30.

For some reason PV is giving priority to Vix Gratis over Freevee. I tired to unsubcribe from it and unsubcribe option failed. This has to be fixed. I don't mind watching dubbed movies, but I'd like to decide for myself which as dubbed and which in the original language.
DeleteCreating a second account could be the only solution at this time. I expect Amazon.com will eventually fix this error, but they are not the best at fixing problems.
An whole lot of movies that were scheduled as expiring on Tubi were renewed. I wonder where they learned that trick from.
DeleteWith the pending demise of good Freevee movies, Tubi is my primary choice. It is worth taking a look at all the new Freevee TV Shows ... that might be a response to Tubi having so many.

DeleteI've been trying to add titles from the IMDB Editor's list. A lot of the 10/1 arriving titles did not arrive. When I checked them again a few hours later, some arrived, others were arriving tomorrow, and some still are not on Prime. I don't recall the arriving titles being as messy as they have been this month.

Prime Video seems to be starving Freevee, at least in the sense of movies. I used IMDB advanced search to see which titles are on Freevee and what jumped out at me was that lot of the titles are recently added TV series. That might be Freevee's future ... primarily TV shows.

I have Vix Gratis. Both of those titles were on Vix Gratis with Spanish subs and no English subs. Amazon is automatically converting titles. They were on Freevee. They were moved to Vix Gratis. They have now been moved to PV. There is no way to watch any other version, even if I wanted to watch them another way.

You have to ignore what PV says at the top of the TV show detail webpage.
Individual episodes are expiring weekly now through December.
It is a defect of the new improved webpage design that PV states the TV show is
"not available in your area” after episode 1 expired Saturday night.
The webpage is not designed to handle TV shows that expire one episode at a time.
Scroll down the page and you will see that the remaining episodes 2 to 11 are
available on Prime. Click on the episodes as you normally would to watch them.
Once you begin to play episode 2, PV will only then display the expiration notice
for that episode at the top of the TV show detail webpage.
And the "not available in your area” message will go away.
But PV will NOT display an expiration notice in the mouse hover pop-up info window
for the TV show poster in your Watchlist.
UPDATE: A new website design defect - The Prime / Freevee / Channel label that
normally appears on posters in your Watchlist in the lower right-hand corner
are NOT displaying for the first 20 titles in your Watchlist.

DeleteI just finished this anime and am ready for a re-watch. It was really quite lovely. I was curious if you had a sense of where this anime will go after it leaves APV platform, since you seem to have more familiarity with licensing deals. I couldn’t find it elsewhere to stream and could only find it used or 3rd party blu-ray~$40-$50 for the series, which I suppose I’ll resort to if it can’t be found elsewhere. Anyway, thank you for posting about its expiration, much appreciated.
The blu-ray rights were bought by Discotek Media in 2019, and it seems to be legally available to purchase on the Crunchyroll Store despite the Discotek site saying it's out of print. Discotek Media titles often go in and out of print periodically, so there is a chance it will be back in print on the Discotek site eventually.
DeleteDiscotek also occasionally streams their shows on other sites like Crunchyroll or RetroCrush, so they might be able to get it to stream somewhere after the original Amazon streaming license fully expires. But it's hard to know for sure if or when it will end up happening.

New PV Watchlist issue. Movies which are on PV turn into "pay" or "not available" after adding them to a watchlist.
ReplyDeleteThe above happened with several titles I just added to my watchlist. When searching for the title it will show up as available with a "Watch Now" button. But when you open the page for the title it is not available to watch on PV or Freevee. In one case the ONLY way I found to add/watch the title took some effort.
Never Rarely Sometimes Always (2020) 7.4 . . on Freevee
You have to launch this title from a general search (ignoring the detailed title page) by clicking "Watch Now".
For the this title above, you have to watch immediately. The usually workaround of stopping the play and clicking the option add fails ... you end up with the detailed page error that it is a pay-to-watch title. There are likely more of these errors given all of the changes Prime Video is gyrating through over the last several months.
I watched something on APV last night on my tv and after it finished and went back to the film’s page, it showed that it was only available via pay as well. I checked on my tablet if I could search for the film since it should have been available for free via APV and it was, so figured it may have been a one-off glitch and didn’t investigate further. Sounds like this is a broader issue.
DeleteI experienced the same oddity that a title I watched converted to a pay title after watching. I checked the website watchlist and it wasn't a pay title. Maybe removing the title and adding it back might fix a new glitch like this.
DeleteOh I've seen a BIG glitch as I've been scrolling through all the results of my queries of all Prime movies and clicking on the details. Sometimes a movie will show as included with Prime but when I click on the details it shows the Freevee logo instead of the Prime logo. But when I close it and click on it again it shows the Prime logo. I'll run across a movie that says it's a pay title but sometimes when I click on it it says Watch with Prime. Or a movie will say it's not even available but shows Watch with Prime when I click on the details. So Prime right now is VERY GLITCHY as far as knowing whether the currently selected title is with Prime or Freevee or paid or even available at all.

Normally one subscribes to a channel on Prime Video on a monthly basis, for one month.
When you cancel the channel, the auto-renew billing stops and you are able to
continue watching the channel until the end of the current paid monthly period.
If the billing period for the ViX Gratis channel is one YEAR, then that means
if you try to cancel the channel now, then you will be stuck watching the channel
until the one year period ends sometime next year. You won't be able to watch the
shared Freevee titles in English until every trace of the ViX Gratis subscription
is scrubbed from your Account sometime next year.
So this appears perhaps to be another wrinkle in the ViX Gratis saga.
The normal sharing of title links between Freevee and the other channels works
because the titles shared are the same identical movie version.
The channel model broke down when they added ViX Gratis to the mix, because
ViX Gratis swaps its own Spanish Dubbed/Spanish subtitled version for the
English version - something the other channels don't do.
In light of this Freevee/ViX Gratis conflict on Prime, I may now have to recommend
that people interested in watching ViX Gratis free with ads content instead go to
the vix.com website and open a free with ads account there.
You can also download the ViX app from the Google Play Store on android.
You used to be able to watch Freevee titles without an Amazon account. I think TUBI and similar are better solutions. It seems to me that Freevee is being mostly cast aside by Amazon.
DeleteThere is a ViX app for Apple devices but there is no desktop version. The app works with iPhones, iPads and Apple TVs. You could play a ViX title on an iPhone or iPad and have it send the play to a TV monitor connected to an Apple TV.

Just pointing out that I still see Species as expiring on the website - and because your comments raised some concerns, I checked my Amazon Fire Stick app as well, and it and Cyborg are still showing as expiring in 7 days. Prime has been increasingly flaky lately so it's anybody's guess what's going on.

You are a Prime Video subscriber and a ViX Gratis channel subscriber.
Both of these movie links are shared by Prime Video and the ViX Gratis channel.
When a movie is expiring from Prime Video but NOT also expiring from a channel
that you subscribe to, then the Prime Video expiration notice will not be displayed,
because you will still be able to watch the movie on the subscribed channel after
it expires from Prime Video.
For example, many of the expiring Star Trek movies above are shared with the MGM+ and
Paramount+ channels. So those channel subscribers may not see a Prime Video expiration
notice if the Star Trek movie is not also expiring from those channels at this time.
Then they will still be able to watch the Star Trek movie on the channel next month.
As far as I can tell, all of the Star Trek movies will be available on Paramount+.
But in this case it's not exactly the same thing, because as of 11/1 the English
language version of Cyborg and Species will be replaced with a Spanish dubbed version
on the ViX Gratis channel.
So if you and other ViX Gratis channel subscribers are interested in watching
any of these movies in English, then now is the time to do so.
If you find other movies on your Watchlist not displaying a Prime expiration notice,
you can click on the "More purchase options" button on the title's detail webpage
when you are NOT signed in to Amazon to see the full list of shared channels.
This is a situation that you and other ViX Gratis channel subscribers will have to
deal with regularly in the future, until your ViX Gratis subscription ends next year
if and when you decide to cancel the channel subscription.
Until Amazon decides to separate ALL ViX Gratis shared links, the Prime Video
streaming service will remain crippled in this way.
I explained what happens when a title is shared by Prime Video and
Deletea subscription channel, and is only expiring from Prime Video,
based on my many years of experience subscribing to pay channels on
Prime Video - something which apparently you have NO EXPERIENCE with
and are just finding out about now.
Both movies are already on Vix Gratis. That's why you can't see the exp notices.
On 11/1 the English version will switch to a Spanish dubbed version on ViX Gratis,
just like all the other titles that switched on the Sept 2024 Archive post.
In fact anyone can watch both movies now on the vix.com website and app.
JustWatch confirms they are already available on ViX and only
expiring from Prime Video - as any Prime member can see who is not
a ViX subscriber.
The heads up I tried to give you is that you can no longer trust your Watchlist
entirely to show what is Leaving Prime because you are a ViX Gratis subscriber.
Instead you can rely on what other contributors post here in the hope
that you won't miss a movie you may really want to see due to
the ViX Gratis channel conflict in your Watchlist.
Do you check every title that didn't expire to see it it moved to Vix Gratis. I have never seen my make a note that it did. You only do it for Max, Paramount+ and similar. You seem to have issues with the free subscription for some reason.

DeleteThe issue I have is with Amazon's sharing of movie links for English language movies
with the Spanish dubbed versions on ViX Gratis. The unintended consequences of the link
sharing for the two dissimilar movie versions are that Prime members who are ViX Gratis
subscribers 1) cannot watch the English version of shared movies on Freevee, and
2) they cannot see the Prime expiration notices for the English language movie version
in their Watchlists, like you.
As I said before, until Amazon decides to separate ALL ViX Gratis shared links,
the Prime Video streaming service will remain crippled in this way.
In the meantime I recommend anyone interested in the ViX Gratis free with ads service
please go watch the movies and TV shows on the vix.com website and app.

DeleteYes, the Tom Cruise 2005 version keeps "arriving" and failing to show up. I checked the other year versions and found that 1953 original was re-arriving, so I assume Amazon still having a conflict with the 2005 version, possibly because there is a also a 2005 version of it starring C. Thomas Howell who also has a 2008 Part 2 follow-up. Ignore the IMDb troll ratings for the Howell version, take a look at the Amazon user ratings.

DeleteSorry if this is duplicate of later comment below (I am working my way down). Hard to find C Thomas Howell first 2005 WofW movie; actual title appears to be H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds. Pops up first when you use that title (not on Prime, but can watch with Midnight Pulp channel). When you use WofW search, WofW 2: the next wave (C Thomas Howell, 2008) shows up 5th in line (on Freevee). I was not aware of these two movies, until I read the above from 10/30!

Just corroborated on the UK Amazon-Expiring from Prime in the Next 30 Days page (like the helpful “Anonymous” user that shares anime info to me had indicated it may be indicative), and it looks like other J-titles may be expiring as well, although I’m not seeing an expiration notice yet.

DeleteThe Nissy concert doesn't have an IMDb page at all. Just Watch has the concert on Apple TV+ but not on PV at all. This seems like one of those titles that just disappears, so it's best to assume it is leaving. My wife and daughter will definately watch this.
