ReplyDeleteIt's time to check Your Watchlist for end of March expiring Prime titles.
On Friday March 3, you will find the new Orange Expiration Date Notices
for expiring Prime titles with a Last Day to Watch of March 30.
March 3 + 28 days = March 31 which is the day the title Leaves Prime,
so the Last Day to Watch is the day before on March 30.
On Saturday March 4, you will find the new Orange Expiration Date Notices
for expiring Prime titles with a Last Day to Watch of March 31.
March 4 + 28 days = 32 or April 1 which is the day the title Leaves Prime,
so the Last Day to Watch is the day before on March 31.
Logically, these Mar 31 Orange Notices should say "Leaving Prime on April 1, 2017." Unfortunately, confusing matters, Amazon Prime Video is in the habit of posting these new Orange Expiration Date Notices as also saying "Leaving Prime on March 31, 2017."
The problem then becomes how do you tell the Mar 30 notices apart from the Mar 31 notices if they both say the SAME identical Expiration Date?
ReplyDeleteThe two-step procedure is to check Your Watchlist for the Mar 30 expiring titles first on Mar 3 and move them all to the top of page 1 of Your Watchlist. Then on Mar 4 when you check Your Watchlist again, any new Orange Expiration Date Notices that you find throughout the rest of Your Watchlist which say "Leaving Prime on March 31, 2017" will be the new Mar 31 Last Day to Watch expiring titles.
This method allows you to determine with certainty when the Last Day to Watch an expiring Prime title will be, regardless of whatever confusing nonsense you may find stated in the Orange Expiration Date Notice.
The only requirement is that you MUST BEGIN the procedure on Friday March 3. Then you will know for certain that the new Orange Notices which appear in Your Watchlist on Saturday March 4 are in fact those with a Last Day to Watch of March 31.
Then continue on Sunday March 5 and you will find the Orange Notices

March 5 + 28 days = 33 or April 2 which is the day the title Leaves Prime,
so the Last Day to Watch is the day before on April 1.
Unfortunately, Amazon Prime will confuse matters again by displaying both the "Leaving Prime on April 1, 2017" and "Leaving Prime on April 2, 2017" Orange Notices for the Apr 1 Last Day to Watch titles. So, checking Your Watchlist for a third day on Sunday March 5 will sort out this mess.

Shana, to prevent the Confirmed 3/30 Last Day to Watch movies from getting lost in the list among the regular Unconfirmed 3/30 movies, may I suggest you consider listing the titles in separate groups like this:
3/30 - Confirmed Last Day to Watch
3/30 - Unconfirmed Last Day to Watch (May Be 3/31)
3/31 - Confirmed Last Day to Watch
That way people will know which movies are definitely leaving Prime on 3/30 and which are maybe leaving Prime on 3/30 and possibly may be available for another day on 3/31. What do you think?

I haven't found a single title expiring on my list since March 1. I'm starting to get nervous that Prime is changing their notices again, or something is wrong with my list.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like more and more titles are leaving without notice. I just found another one gone with no warning: Survive Girls (English Subtitled) (2010).
DeletePunkinheadDelux, March appears to be a light month for expirations. That is a good thing. You should enjoy watching the movies and TV shows on your list in the order you want to watch them without the pressure of expirations. That is the way it should be.
DeleteIf you are concerned, try adding a couple of the titles from the list above to Your Watchlist and check whether the Orange Expiration Date Notices are showing.
On another subject:
Another bad habit of Amazon Video is their showing the wrong release year for a movie. Silent Tongue is 1993 according to IMDb, not 2005. It is one of River Phoenix's last movies.
Note: La Petite Lily should be La Petite Lili.
