Why don't you list the whole month?
ReplyDeleteThis stie lists expiring titles when Amazon announces them and they appear on people's watchlists.
DeleteAmazon does not itself provide a list of expiring titles that I know of. Amazon generally provides 14 days notice for expiring titles, sometimes fewer days, or even 0 days (usually Freevee titles suddenly going poof! or changing over to pay to watch).
DeleteThe primary way of finding the titles in the blog are by individuals
checking the own Amazon Watchlist accounts. These Expiring Titles are only as good as the films people have on their watchlists.
You can add Expiring Titles from your own watchlist(s) in these Comments. Someone confirms them, and then adds to the list above.
I just try to look up every movie by decade two weeks before the end of the month. It doesn't help with movies that don't show a release year or those cut off after the 2010-date list tops out at 400 pages again (now that Prime's replenished its holdings), but it's something.

ReplyDeleteI was cleaning up a Watchlist and I found a title that was not on a spreadsheet list I created. Odd. What happened was that Amazon changed the name of the film to match the current name used by IMDB. IMDB has been changing the primary title of titles to reflect the original foreign language title. Amazon owns IMDB and seems to be trying to synchronize the two so that titles and years match.
This is the one film I found so far that suddenly changed the title.
Chiriakhana (1967) 7.2 directed by Satyajit Ray
– Former title "The Zoo"
The former title may still appear in other streaming sites as IMDB lists that title as a "World-wide (English title)."
Well there's an example below of Amazon and IMDb not matching titles. A Winter Romance on Amazon is Colors of Love on IMDb.

DeleteWell, that makes more sense, considering the movie's set in October.
DeleteThe name difference also points out that streaming services might use names other than the original name of a title. I do not know why they do that.

Yes, they show the Prime badge, but going into the listing they show “unavailable.” This appears to be a transient phenomenon, as now it’s two other shows. I screencapped the listings, but see no way to upload them. Do you not remember this happening two months ago? Several shows were removed (while remaining in the listing), except those shows never got fixed.

This is as of 5mins ago. It says “video is unavailable” inside a box, and next to each episode is “unavailable” where the play button usually is. This is in the Prime Video app on my iPhone (previously also confirmed on my Fire tablet, not these two though). I have no idea why Amazon is cycling through these shows, removing and restoring them, but they are.
If there’s some way I can provide the screenshots to you, please let me know.

DeleteThey clearly show that the NEW Prime Video App is experiencing glitches,
reporting that some November sample special promotion TV Shows are "unavailable",
when the AVP website on my computer reports right now that
the very same shows are available on Prime.
You have confirmed that the problem is present with the NEW Prime Video App
on the iPhone and the Fire Tablet. It may also be affecting people
who have the NEW Prime Video App on their SmartTVs. Maybe someone else can check that.
For now the recommended work-around, as you say, is if you find a show you want to watch
is "unavailable" with the NEW Prime Video App, then you should wait awhile and
then try again, until APV restores the Prime availability of the program.
Glad that was helpful. My app isn’t new though, it’s v8.3x, while the current release is v9.21. And, as I mentioned, the same shows were not available on my Fire tablet, which does have the latest version.
DeleteAs for taking the “just wait” approach, thankfully that does appear to be working this time, though in Sep several shows were removed and never returned. I remember the speculation here as to why some would have been removed, having to do w/concurrent promotions.

In any case, my first post was in the belief those four shows had been permanently zapped, as in Sep. Apparently something different is going on this month.
Hah, great minds. :O) To summarize, my iPhone is way outdated, but the Fire tablet forces updates, so it’s the latest. It’s all rather strange.
DeleteI noticed a lot of ones that left early said unavailable as well. Two that left at same time one left at one point, and the other stayed on, while the first one said unavailable.
DeleteI had a weird but potentially helpful experience w/that (haven’t had opportunity to duplicate it yet). I wanted to catch a movie that was leaving, but it said unavailable hours before it should have. I added it to the watch list, and it suddenly offered to play it (blue play button appeared). This was on my iPhone, and could just be one-off weirdness — I won’t know until more stuff goes missing. Always an adventure. :O)

DeleteCertainly. That title does not show it is expiring on Prime. It could be that the poster has another film expiring in their watchlist and posted the wrong title.

Now I see A.C.O.D is already on the list under 11/30, even though Amazon's date is 12/1. Still sometimes confused about how that works.
DeleteA.C.O.D., on the Prime Video web page, and the Prime Video App, both show, "Leaves Prime in 5 days." The Amazon watchlist shows "Leaving Prime on 12/1."
DeleteAmazon seems to be counting the current day as day 1 (there is no 0 day). Today is 11/26, so 5 days means 26, 27, 28, 29, 30. If you you add 12/1, then that would be 6 days left to watch. But if you wait in 12/1 the film will be gone.
Adding to the above:
DeleteThere is a way to add time to watch a departing title. Start watching it before it leaves. Amazon give you extra time to finish watching it. I am not sure how much extra time you get, but it seems to be at least 24 hours.
Larry has instructions for calculating the date up top, which basically says our date is one day earlier than Amazon's date. But I've noticed that the date we use and Amazon's date very often, in fact most often, match, so....

DeleteTo determine the expiration date of a title, you have to ignore the exp date notice
Deleteshown in the pop-up info window when you hover your mouse over the title's poster
and instead go directly to the expiring title's detail webpage.
Then follow the expiration date calculation equations shown at the top of this page.
For example, the A.C.O.D. (2013) detail webpage today says "Leaves Prime in 5 days".
Expiration Date = detail 5 days + 11/26 = 11/31 = 12/1 - the day the title leaves Prime
Last Day to Watch = 12/1 - 1 day = 11/30 - your last chance to watch the title
At this point, you can stop.
But, if you must know, here's how the pop-up info window exp date notice comes into play
to determine the TIME when the title may expire.
When the Hover exp date equals the Last Day to Watch date above, it is early at 9 PM PST.
When the Hover exp date equals the Expiration Date above, it is normal at 12 Midnight PST.
The A.C.O.D. (2013) Hover expiration date notice says "Leaving Prime on Dec 1",
which is the same date as the calculated Expiration Date 12/1 above,
so this movie will be available on Prime 11/30 until the normal TIME of 12 Midnight PST.
And that's where you'll find the title is listed above on the master list.
Note: The actual expiration TIME won't be known for sure until the expiration notice
on the title's detail webpage changes to "Leaves Prime in XX hours" at the 48 hour mark.
Note: The Amazon Prime Expiry Viewer script displays the detail webpage exp date notice
in a Yellow banner below the title's poster in Your Watchlist, saving you the time and
trouble of actually having to open each expiring title's detail webpage to see the notice.
Then you can make the Expiration Date and Last Day to Watch calculations based on
the exp notice dates you see in the Yellow banner. See the Resources page for more info.
will g, the 11/30 titles you added to your Watchlist show the Hover exp date is equal
to the calculated Last Day to Watch, so those titles are Expiring Early at 9 PM PST.
Thank you for taking the time to explain that Larry, which I know you've done before. When I'm going through 45 pages of my watchlist, especially when there are many expiring titles, it's so much easier to just use the pop-window's date, which as I said matches our date most of the time and is what I normally post. But I'll take time to absorb all of your advice, and maybe get it this time!

Now I see The Long Walk Home was also already on the list. PunkinheadDeluxe posted it as 12/4, I posted it as 12/6, and you listed it as 12/5!
Delete12/5 should be correct. 9 days to go, and if you count today as day 1, 12/5 is the final date. Evidently, if you start watching it on 12/5 you can continue watching on 12/6. I'll have to try that trick out on a title to see how that works.
DeleteFYI: The Long Walk Home is on tubi.tv with commercials. It is not on their leaving list of titles (not that it is an accurate list).
TubiTV lists some expiring titles in their Leaving Soon list, others in their Recently Added (!) list, and others in the Something Completely Different List. But there are still more that you won't find unless you go checking expiration dates on the titles in ever category.
DeleteAnonymous, yes, the trick works. APV states somewhere on the website that
Deleteyou can stream up to four titles simultaneously. I've never gone beyond streaming
three titles simultaneously in three separate tabs or browser windows on my computer.
If you have separate devices setup with APV, you probably could also
do some combination of starting a movie say on your SmartTV, starting another
on your Tablet, and then starting a third one on your Computer.
So, if you are on the West Coast, you can start and then pause say three movies
that each expires early at 9 PM PST. Then watch each movie to the end in turn.
As long as you begin watching a title before the Expiration Time and then pause it,
you will be able to go back to it and play the remainder of the full movie or TV episode.
LarryG— That is great info about how to continue watching "expired" films. There are so many good titles in the expiring list that it is not possible to watch the ones you want before they are gone. Thank you to those who shared that trick.
