Hello everyone! This post is for expiring titles leaving Amazon Prime Video (U.S.A.) for the month of April 2024. If you are new to this site, check out the FAQ page, and feel free to post a question or comment there. Please post general comments on the Discussions page. This monthly page is for the listing of expiring titles on Prime.
When you list expiring titles, please subtract 1 day from the date Amazon lists.
Amazon lists the day the title leaves Prime, meaning that the title is no longer available to stream.
We list titles one day earlier because that is the last day to view it.
Last Day to Watch = Expiration Date minus 1 day
until the following morning to calculate the expiration date and the last day to watch date. Otherwise,
if any of the titles are Expiring Early at 9 PM PDT, your calculations for those will be mistakenly off
by one day earlier.

There seems to be no "Leaving soon" / "Last chance to watch" banner on the Prime Video home page so far this month. I have checked since midnight 4/1 and 3 times a day since then. No banner.

DeleteThe list the first poster saw on the 31st was probably the March list. For whatever reason, in the months when Amazon chooses to have last chance row they usually show up on the 1st of the month and disappear around four days later, only to belatedly reappear a few days before the end of the month. Adding to the confusion is the fact that whether or not a list is provided at all varies randomly from month to month, and the fact that the list doesn't appear for everyone in some months. I have no idea why, but Amazon apparently doesn't place much importance on what's leaving their service.
DeleteNetflix (I think) gives a one notice on what is leaving by date. Last Day to Watch is far superior to Leaving in X days -- there's no question about which day a title is leaving.

DeleteActually Netflix changed their Expiration Date policy last May 2023 causing confusion.

Titles expire from Netflix at Midnight, Pacific Time. Those east of that time zone
should adjust the expiration time accordingly. The Last Day to Watch shown on Netflix
might be only for a few hours [in the early morning for subscribers east of Pacific Time].

Also I have seen a subsequent month’s leaving soon list on the last day of the previous month previously and it stopped displaying shortly after for what it’s worth. I assumed this was the case since oftentimes those titles leave on the day before the last day of the month…

DeleteI also see that the PV app, and logged into Amazon, allows the episodes it to be downloaded. The episodes total about 5 hours. I have no idea what happens in a hour if you download them but can't fit 5 hours into 1 hour. I assume they get deleted as watchable by PV.
DeleteIt looks like I will finish it just in time. But downloaded the episodes to see what happens after they leave. APV. I assume it’s the same as Netflix as in it will be downloaded, but you won’t be able to play them.

DeleteAlso it looks like even though it’s past 9pm PST, only episode 1 of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is no longer available, but I’m still able to watch the downloaded version. We’ll see if that remains the same come tomorrow…I wish/hope there is a way to discern these kinds of things in advance.

DeleteAh, ep 1 aired 2 weeks before ep 2, so it seems likely that each ep has its own individual expiration date. It's really weird especially since I don't recall a show expiring 1 ep at a time before.
DeleteGood to know that that is a thing that can happen though. Also wanted to report back that the downloaded episode 1 was able to be played for a bit even after the 9pm leaving time, so may be a good strategy for a little bit more time if needed, albeit limited.. I should have written it down, but I don’t recall if it become unavailable before or after midnight, but it was it was around then when I checked again and found it unavailable to play, States “Download unavailable” on the list of episodes page and then “This download is no longer available” if you select the info icon for that particular episode.” Thanks for the info on episode 2!
DeleteSeveral months ago someone posted a way to watch downloaded episodes past the expiration time (at least for a few days?). It involved disabling the internet connection (on an iPad?) to prevent phoning home, watching the download and then re-enabling the internet. Not sure if that works (I never tried it).

Yes, that's it. Download before expiration time. Disable device internet connection. Watch.
DeleteWhen finished watching, reconnect internet. Then downloads will become unavailable.
Another option when you only want to watch one or two more titles [or episodes]
is to start the title in a separate browser tab [or on multiple devices]
before expiration time and pause playback. Then watch each title one after the other.
The website says you can have up to 4 simultaneous streams.
I have only ever played 3 simultaneous streams myself. It works. You can try it now.
Ooo, thank you for this information!! This will be super helpful, especially when I’m only a couple episodes or movies short of a deadline.

Amazon Prime Watchlist problem -- scrolling stopped working.
ReplyDelete-- Watchlist behavior changed when using a computer browser. Scrolling no longer works. Only 60 title show (the phone app still has endless scroll). Yesterday it worked fine. Anyone else experience this? ( I am using Safari on a Mac).
Scrolling doesn't work on Edge either, but does on the Fire tablet app (Of course, you can't just scroll titles for notices on a tablet, so it's much less useful).
DeleteThanks. Scrolling still works on the Home Tab. Someone at Amazon goofed and broke the web-script for the scroll on Watchlists. That was my way of finding expiration dates because it is a simple mouse over.

Delete1) I think the PV app on a computer is simplest way to find out the status of a title, but not the expiration date. The App shows whether a title is on Prime, Freevee, another paid service, or removed entirely. There is no mousing over required.
2) I think the easiest way to see an expiration date is using a computer, loading the watchlist and scrolling over a title.
I know others here use an Expiry Viewer script with Chrome {a browser I won't use), so I don't know if the script is also affected.

DeleteChrome is listed as the browser to use. But, the script developer (Tampermonkey) also offers versions for Edge, Firefox, Opera and Safari.

The watchlist error has been fixed. Checked using Firefox and Safari.
DeletePlease note that the Expiry Viewer does not work anymore.
DeleteIt stopped working a year ago when APV changed the HTML code for the Watchlist
and for the TV show and movie Detail webpages.
Amazon is using an "as-needed" HTML solution to reduce resources. As you scroll down a watchlist the first titles get removed and they are replaced by the titles you can see, plus some additional titles rows above and below.

An American Haunting. Look like I missed that. The "Included with Prime" provided by Amazon I used (has some 200 titles) includes titles which are NOT included with Prime.
DeleteI looked at that list again and now see Moviesphere for that title. Three are also some pay titles now that were not there yesterday. That list is dynamic, and changes.
This is how to get that list. It takes a few steps.
From the PV Home Page used "Home" (a drop down list at the top) and select "Movies".
Scroll down to, "Prime Top-rated movies" > click "See more" (to get the 200 titles)
Click the "Ways to Watch" (drop down list) and select "Included with Prime".
ADDING to the above. You can get that movie list without logging in. It might be a different list of titles if you are logged in. That's something I look at later.
DeleteThe "Top-rated movies" list is different when logged in (no pay titles) and not logged in (some pay titles). The list appears to be user specific.

ReplyDeleteThat list has some 200 titles. When I looked at it yesterday it had nearly 700 titles in it. All the titles listed seem to be the top-rated ones according to the Prime Video rating system (1-5). It seems to be a good list to pick titles from to add to a watchlist. A lot of the expiring titles are included in the that list.
