- There is a Limited Time Offer available for HBO Max where new customers can save $3 a month for 12 months.
- On the APV homepage, there is a section titled "HBO - free for a limited time."

ReplyDeleteSo I've noticed some of the HBO stuff that is free has popped in my expiration section on Hulu today. I added some more HBO series and movies to my stuff and saw them pop up in the expiration section. I assume that means that they might be expiring from Prime or Roku Channel or the other streaming sites that has been offering these things for free in the next 13 days or so.

Has anyone noticed that expiration dates have now been removed from all title pages? At this point, the dates are only visible if you have the expiry viewer installed in your browser. This means that Amazon no longer wants users to know which titles are expiring, and the only thing saving us is that someone developed a script to "cheat" for us (which of course will only continue to work until Amazon removes the dates from their code). Disturbing.
ReplyDeleteGreat. The last time this happened we complained via their feedback and the expiration dates were eventually reinstated. I guess we need to do that again.
DeleteI use an iPad to stream most of the content on Prime Video. As of this afternoon, I am seeing expiration dates for titles going out to 6/3. For example, Lady Bird (2017) is showing an expiration date of 6/3 [last day streaming].
DeleteI guess they haven't switched the Apple operating system to the new format yet. But neither Chrome nor Firefox show expiration dates on individual title pages anymore.
DeleteThis is a new format. As late as this morning, the expiration dates for expiring titles did NOT appear on my iPad app. (How long this will last is another question.)

They were available just a few days ago. And parts 1-3 are still on Prime.
I just saw that nothing in my list was expiring and came over here to check my suspicion that Amazon changed everything again. I did just send them feedback in chat and was given a long reply about how it will be passed along because customer satisfaction is important. We'll see...

Except unless I missed the notice this time, Me Without You has expired without notice again. I doubt there was notice. That movie has been in a revolving door forever, and someday I may catch it when I'm in the right mood.

Carlos, the people at PureWow probably took their article down when someone realized they based it on the old, inactive Amazon Prime Insider article which shows what's coming to Prime Video in June 2018.
DeleteThat is when the expiring Lady Bird (2017) and The Disaster Artist (2017) first arrived on Prime.
The Disaster Artist (2017) is now last day to watch 5/31 and Lady Bird (2017) is last day to watch 6/2. And both titles are going to Netflix in June 2020.

Prime Video has a contract with distributor A24 to show their movies for 2 years exclusively, and then Netflix picks up the titles.
DeleteIf you look at the June 2018 Prime Insider article above, you will see that The Disaster Artist (2017) arrived on Prime on June 1, 2018 and Lady Bird (2017) arrived on June 3, 2018.
They are now Leaving Prime on June 1 and June 3, 2020, respectively, exactly 2 years later to the day, per the Expiry Viewer expiration date notices. The Last Day to Watch is one day earlier.
Netflix has now also announced that both films arrive there on June 1 and June 3. That's the way that A24 movies work on the VOD streaming services. Wellesley72, where are you seeing a "Leaving Prime on June 4, 2020" notice for Lady Bird?

Sorry for posting on the same day as the last day to watch, but I just noticed that no one else caught this. This movie is not highly rated, but if you want to watch another mediocre Daniel Radcliffe movie, better hop to it! It might come back, but you can't count on it. It takes a village to keep up with Amazon and Netflix expiring movies.

Much clearer. Thanks. I went back and reread the heading and I think I know what threw me off: I connected -Confirmed- to Hulu, not 5/30. Actually the heading could have been simplified to:

The word confirmed was not needed since movies are not usually posted to the master list unless they have been confirmed. Also, it is assumed they are currently on Prime until expired.

It looks like the expiration notice is back. But only when you click on the title and go to it's dedicated page. Not on the hover pop-up under your "my stuff" page.

DeleteHas anyone else found the quality of their streaming on Prime to be different the last month-plus? I used to be able to get the "1080p HD" logo when I used the Chrome browser on my desktop, but now it will only go as far as the "HD" logo. It has been bugging me out when I have been streaming. I've noticed that TCM and Hulu websites comes in SD on the desktop, but Amazon.com always appeared different allowing up to 1080p HD (but not 4K). Further frustrating me is that I can't tell what the quality of the video is when I stream on the Roku app. So I can't tell if that is HD or 1080p HD either. I did an check of my Internet speed yesterday and it was about 12 mbs upload and download, which according to a Google search I did is more than enough to stream 1080p HD video.

ReplyDeleteIs the expiry viewer glitchy for anyone else? I almost didn't catch that one, but I saw it blink bright yellow. I had to refresh the page twice to get it to show. However, I was excited to see a date on a TV show, and also see it listed on the show page.
I'm sorry to say it's not working for me today, neither the titles moved to IMDb nor the soon to be expiring titles.
DeleteIt's working for me, but I've found that it is usually necessary to refresh the page once for the banners to appear. I use Chrome, don't know if that's true in other browsers.

Downton Abbey's expiration date has disappeared. I don't know if that means it's staying or if they realized their "error" in letting us know.
ReplyDeleteThey did the same thing with Hannibal's expiration date notice.
DeleteFirst it disappeared on Wednesday May 27 from the TV show webpage.
Then last night on Thursday May 28, the expiration date notice returned.
Tonight on Friday May 29, the Hannibal notice is gone again.
The movie detail webpage design layout also changed back to the OLD design layout on Wednesday and then returned to the NEW design layout on Thursday. It's hard to say if these are glitches or what they mean.
I'm going to leave both Hannibal and Downton Abbey as expiring in June, because since APV just began showing TV show expiration date notices again, we haven't had any recent experience of seeing a TV show renewed before its previously announced expiration date.
